The core of Fick Supply Service Inc. began in 1953 by a man named Lenn Burnell.
He began with the vision that woodwaste had better uses then being disposed of in empty ravines or burned only to produce a pile of ashes.
He started with an old dump truck and tractor, similar to the ones pictured.
Lenn would load and deliver sawdust to farmers and bark mulch to local nurseries.
In 1978, he sold the business to Danny Albrecht.
Danny and his wife, Becky, continued on until 1989 when Danny had a massive heart attack and passed away.
His wife, Becky, continued with the business, then named "Albrecht Hauling," to provide for her two young daughters. In 1990, Dave Fick (current owner) was going to college and took a seasonal job driving for Albrecht Hauling. After the spring season he then moved on to other things.
In 1993, Becky Albrecht offered the sale of her business to Dave Fick and they began working together. |
